A pedestal luminary cut from pearlescent onyx — a stone that does not merely catch light but passes it. Onyx is translucent in section, and lit from within, the banding laid down over millions of years reads as movement across the surface: honey, cream, and the faint blush that gives this material its pearlescence. Unlit it is a sculptural column. Lit, it is a lamp that appears to have no bulb in it at all.

Every luminary is cut from its own block, so the figure on this piece exists on no other. 12"W × 12"D × 40"H.
