Cayen Collection — Antique Carved Ming Dynasty Harwood

An antique Chinese altar table carved from solid hardwood, dating to 1800–1850 and made in the Ming tradition of furniture-making. It has curved aprons, hand-carved decorative motifs and cabriole-style legs, joined in the classical Chinese manner. Nearly two centuries of use have given the wood a deep, even patina. It works as a console in an entry or living room, or on its own as a sculptural piece.
